This is an Antique German Glass Christmas Ornament in the shape of a butterfly with a glass body and spun glass wings. It measures 3 inches across the wing span and 2 3/4 inches long. The blown and molded glass body is in great condition. That is the fine detail of the shape of the body you see appearing in the pictures, not cracks! It still has it’s annealed black glass hanging loop and delicate antennae are all still intact. There is a little discoloration on the wings which have been reattached. They fit into recesses in the body that were part of the mold just for that purpose. The white stuff is plaster. There is only very minor loss to the spun glass wings. These are so delicate, I consider this in exceptionally good condition for it’s age. See all the pictures for the best description. These are all made before the 1940’s (and many are from much earlier) that went into this collection back in the 70’s when Christmas ornaments were much easier to find than they are now. These are nice figurals that are hard to find with some ornaments in this collection that I have never even seen before. I will be putting some more on over the next few days and more before the end of the month. As of Dec 18 I still have a lot more to list!!!
