Vintage Blown Glass Christmas Ornament with Colored Water in Blown Glass Orb OLD. Buyoldstuff is pleased to offer an item from its personal and longtime collection of vintage Christmas. This is an extremely rare vintage blown glass ornament that has the unique feature of a clear blown glass ball that is filled with bright orange colored water for a very dramatic, beautiful and almost psychedelic effect. The metal cap is marked Made Italy, and I believe the era would be around 1950 or 1960. This is consistent with the fact that some of the finest and more unique artistic or creative free form blown glass ornaments to this day (think Christopher Radko) are made in Italy. There is another very rare ornament of this shape/style but that has a scene (Nativity or winter scene – varies) in the indent part instead of the glass ball – also made in Italy. The outer glass portion of the ornament is ridged on the outside, but appears smooth on the inside where the ball of colored water is. However, there is a magnificent reflection of the orange water on the inside smooth glass part of the ornament, so it must be reflected something patterned on the inside base as it looks like an orange mod/abstract flower inside the ornament. There is also a border of white glitter around the front edge of the ornament. The ornament measures 3 high from bottom to top of round hanger in which you put a hook to hang on tree, 2 wide and 2 deep. I would consider this an extremely fancy indent ornament. This has been in my personal and extensive vintage collection for about 25 years and in that time, I have only seen two others. It would look equally fabulous on an aluminum tree or a classic green tree. The condition is excellent with no cracks or chips and it has been carefully stored in a climate controlled area and a smokefree home. Looks stunning on the tree – a real focal point and conversation piece. Must have for the serious collector or person who loves beautiful and unique things.
