I found 2 of these ornaments together. They are a hand blown spiral snake or icicle shape with molded head. This is the second one with a bit less original paint from wear and there is a small break near the opening. Its still attached but needs to be stabilized. I left it alone but assume a small amount of glue would secure it. Measures roughly 7 inches long. Offering an antique glass ornament, this is a balloon-ball with an open-bottomed lantern. A stunning tinsel insert added shimmer to reflect candle light. Remnants of the original colors remain: blue, red, gold. No hallmark but likely of German or polish manufacture. Silver tinsel is heavily oxidized. Heavy loss of paint. Simply stunning in their array of colors and banded colors; a wonderful collection of antique glass Christmas bulbs in their original European cardboard box. These are the medium-size, right about 3 from stem to stern. The crowns are not hallmarked but their shape indicates that they are most likely of Polish manufacture, though they could be German as well as their painted floral patterns certainly show Bavarian influence, albeit slightly primitive in nature. As these are very old, please expect wear to the ornaments, paint is worn and faded, glitter is also worn. All ornaments have evidence of oxidization, as well as the pikes and crowns, also oxidized. You’ll notice that each ornament has very old’twist-wire’ fashioned into ornament hangers. This twist-wire is very old all on its own from Christmases dated late 1800s to early 1900s. This could be a’re-used’ situation, wire salvaged from other Christmas items and put to good use, so we left this intact as it only adds to the history and character of these wonderful ornaments.
