Extremely Limited Edition from 2002 Very Low Number… 1 of 75 — #1 of only 75! JUMBO-SIZED, Completely Artisan-Made, 8″ x 7″ x 6 Glass Ornament. The Only Ones Created to Hang on Marshall Field’s Beloved State Street Walnut Room Christmas (“Big”) Tree. Here we have a very scarce, very desirable, numbered Christopher Radko Christmas tree ornament with a very special history as well as a limited edition number 1 of 75, Vintage Toychest. We have five different jumbo ornaments from the same special limited edition Marshall Field’s collection with very low, single-digit numbers, including this very same ornament, but at a lower cost due to its not being a #1. It is a very low number, though. This jumbo-sized ornament hung from the Big Tree during the 2002 Christmas season in the Walnut Room of the Marshall Field flagship store on State Street in Chicago, around which so many families’ Christmas traditions were built and memories were made. Jumbo ornaments were the only glass ornaments ever hung from the very family-friendly Walnut Room’s Big Tree, so for safety reasons, the hangers were hot-glued to the ornaments. Although this same Vintage Toychest design is available in other versions and sizes, these jumbo ornaments are the only ones that were produced specifically to decorate the Marshall Field’s Big Tree, and they were never made available to the public for sale. They went into private hands at the end of the season. The other ornaments of the same name and style never hung on the Big Tree and were produced in much greater numbers specifically to sell to Marshall Field’s shoppers (ornament number 03-MAR-06) and elsewhere Radko number. Our jumbo 2002 Radkos come to us fresh from the auctioning off of a collection of pieces Mr. Radko personally chose to have set aside for a special library project that never came to fruition. Condition : Please see our photos for the best description of this piece’s condition. Enlarge and zoom in on them, and please ask questions about anything you see in them that doesn’t seem “excellent” to you. Very bright and shiny paint with so much depth in the glass, fresh and clean, with no chips, cracks or scratches. The cap was hot-glued to the ornament in 2002 while it was being hung on the Big Tree. It should be checked regularly and re-hot-glued when necessary to keep the ornament secured to the hanger. The certificate of authenticity states #1 of 75, and explains the special history of this collection. It, and the explanatory card, have light shelf wear. The box is the original one produced for these jumbo ornaments, and it is plain white, with no Radko print. The label on it (02-MAR-06B) denotes the year 2002 and MARshall Fields. It is in excellent condition with some light shelf wear. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we’ll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us. Rare versions of the Field’s Lady shopper ornaments which include a dog alongside on a leash. These ornaments were made in the early 2000’s with a variety of different ladies and dogs. This one is a lady dressed in a red glitter skirt, fishnet stockings and red glitter shoes. Her white jacket is belted, she has a gold necklace and her perfectly groomed and glittered poodle walks alongside on a red wired leash. She carries a Marshall Field’s bag. Sofia de Carlini made these finely painted ornaments for leading brands. She measures about 7.5 tall. This ornament is brand new in the box, never removed from the Marshall Field’s box.
