Vtg Antique Rhinestone Tree OOAK Hand Made Old Stones Christmas Tree. Gorgeous tree hand made by me. Its made with all vtg rhinestone pieces. The top star might be a bit newer but other than that its all old and it costs me alot to find all these rhinestone pieces so hence the price. You will see some glue and its all vtg so some stones are missing but its still incredible. Photos dont do it justice. You can see in background of my last photo that I have many of these that I have made over the years. I added the star on top by just pushing it in, you could always change this out. Very unusual and fragile stained glass panel in framed box with square nails. There is grime and muck and left in as found condition. There is a hole with foil applied which leads me to believe this may have been done to insert a light bulb? Though due to the square nails may have been done at a later date because I believe this may have been made significantly prior to light bulb production. I can’t find anything exactly the same however have seen similar boxed panels made much later said to be Christmas ornaments. I will try to pack well but it does seem extremely fragile and amazed it’s survived this long intact. Exposed glass measures about 5 3/4×6 inches(glass) and frame is about 9×8.5x. Would appreciate any suggestions what this is! Update: Ok, so I have a book about the history of early American Glass and apparently, glass was made in panels at different sizes at different times in glass making history. What I found was the earliest panels of glass were made about 5 to 6 inches and later the panels got bigger. I believe this to be a very old panel of glass, as the square nails and style of box frame indicate. There are no circular saw marks (circular saws came about around 1840). Again, I have no idea the value of such an item. It is crude but at the same time quite elegant and may be a very early piece of American glass. Glass was imported during the early days of America and it wasn’t until the mid 1600’s to 1700’s when glass houses were established in the USA.
