Gorgeous hard to find vintage set of 8 Glass Diorama Indent Scene Christmas tree Ornaments. Silver indented glass balls with miniature celluloid Santa in sleigh with reindeer, 2 miniature celluloid Reindeer, 3 celluloid Angels, 1 celluloid Church & deer figure. Different background colors of blue, yellow, gold, green & purple with mica glitter and snow accents. Each has a metal cap marked Japan. Measurements: 2 1/3 wide. Very nice condition showing extremely light signs of loss and age. Only one tiny chip under metal cap of an angel ornament, I pulled the cap aside so you could see it in the photos. There will be signs of usage, storage and aging. There are scratches and oxidation of the mercury glass of these ornaments. And have oxidation around the pikes and the hangers. Nine Dioramas Indent Scenes Glass. These silvered mercury glass indented scene Christmas ornaments were made in Japan in the 1950s. Inside the concave recess in the glass are plastic or celluloid figures. There are three different scenes with figures: Santa in his Sled, Church with steeple and Angel in prayer. In each ornament there’s a ground cover of glittery white mica snow with falling mica snowflakes on different tinted backgrounds. About 2-3/8 to 3 inches diameter, these ornaments are in good condition. There are 3 of each of the 3 scenes. Santa riding in his sled with his reindeer on a ground cover of glittery white mica snow with falling mica snowflakes on a silvery blue tinted background. Church with Steeple on a ground cover of glittery white mica snow with falling mica snowflakes on a pink tinted background. Angel wearing a white robe standing on a ground cover of glittery white mica snow with falling mica snowflakes on a pink tinted background. None of the figures have been replace and are original to these ornaments. Ornaments are approximately 3 wide. Ornaments are in good condition. Oxidation near the pikes and of the hangers.
