Hard-to-find antique Christmas ornament featuring a yellow bird in a bird cage. This is also a desirable metal wire wrapped decoration dating to the Victorian era. Bird is mounted on a blown glass post that can be moved up or down at the bottom of the ornament. This “mechanical” aspect of the ornament works but requires the wire be moved aside. Painted paper mache bird with “tail feathers” sits inside the hand painted blown glass cage. The “roof” of the cage is painted in red and white stripes. Wrapped wire suggest the bars of a cage. Two “bird feeders” in relief on either side of the ornament are hand painted and decorated with mica white glitter paint? The bottom of the ornament is cardboard. 3″ tall x 1 3/4″ across.
