A delightful Antique German Blown Glass Wire Wrapped Christmas Ornament Blown Glass Sailboat… Dresden Paper SAILBOAT c. 1890- 1905 with Glass Mast set in old cotton and A set of large and small die cut Paper Sails Very nicely made. The wire is still in good condition… Could use a little tweaking… The paint is almost perfect on one side…. With some flecks missing on the top back end that extend a tad down the back upper side. Use the zoom feature to get a good close up I’m going to finish wiping it clean with my q-tip and it will be ready to hang and enjoy on your feather tree has a crinkle wire loop for hanging at the top length…. 4 inches height 4 3/8 to top of mast it looks black in the photos… But in the light it is darkest cobalt blue with painted white stripes along the sides I’m so excited when I find a nice old ornament in fine condition! I enjoy thinking it will go on being admired and enjoyed by future generations! My 100 yr old Nannie can still vividly describe her joy and anticipation as she awaited each exciting Christmas of her childhood years in the late teens and 1920’s. She can describe the Christmas trees, the glass AND homemade ornaments and the smells of fruits and special foods… The sounds of laughter and the pure joy of having guests who visited and shared this special season with her family each of her childhood Christmases.
