This hard to find set of 4 ornaments includes Star Boy, Creche, Tatar Prince, and Krakow Man. All of the ornaments depict a very traditional and important role in the Christmas Eve celebration in Krakow, Poland. The Star Boy is a holds a large homemade star on a long pole with a candle burning inside to represent the Star of Bethlehem, and uses it to light the way for carolers. Approximately 6.5 inches tall. The Creche represents the Nativity, and every year the town of Krakow holds a competaiton to see who can design the most beautiful Creche, the piece included in this set depicts the Marjacki Church in the Krakow Town Square. Approximately 5.75 inches tall. The Tatar Prince is a very important figure. In 1271, the people of Krakow stopped an invasion attempt from the Golden Horde, that was led by the Tatar Prince, and one of the defenders took the Prince’s crown, climbed on his horse and rode around in victory. Lastly, the Krakow Man represents the custom attire that the Krakow locals wear to distinguish themselves from the inhabitants of the Royal City. Approximately 6.25 inches tall. Mint condition ornaments with one Polonaise handtag in the original wooden box in excellent condition. Stored in a smoke-free environment.
