A rare full box of one dozen unsilvered Shiny Brite figural glass Christmas ornaments from the 1940s World War II years, decorated with transparent colored stripes and white mica glitter. There are seven of the 3 inch stacked tree or bell shapes. One is not a war ornament, it’s silvered, added to the box to make an even dozen. The five top or lantern shaped ornaments are a little smaller than the trees. They’re often called tornado or UFO shapes by collectors. The ornaments have no breaks or chips. The condition of mica glitter finish varies from excellent to fair. One of the tree shapes has wear to the transparent stripes. The classic 1940s Shiny Brite box has an image of Uncle Sam and Santa shaking hands on the lid. The lid has two corner splits, otherwise the box is in good condition. American unsilvered war ornaments were only produced for three years during World War II and are by their very nature scarce and finite in quantity (as soon as the war ended the manufacturers went back to producing silvered ornaments). They are highly collected today and will only increase in value as their numbers dwindle from loss, breakage, and absorption into private collections.
