Antique German War Themed Christmas Decorations WW1 & WWII in suitcase
I bought this item as a complete lot from Germany and have had it for several years. The suitcase was found with the items inside. The suitcase is clearly old – whether it is WWI or WWII in age I don’t know. I think it is covered in leather. It measures 40cm x 26cm x 10cm, and is in good condition. There is a photograph of young soldier – I can’t read the writing on the back. There is a Christmas postcard – posted 25.12.15 – Marked Feldposthouse – Field Post Box. This was sent to Fraulein Maria Tissen. I can’t read the rest of the writing. The other postcard is dated 27.08.16 – marked Feldpost 38. The Christmas items date from around 1910 to WWII. I will list by what I think is their age. Dresden Christmas Decoration of Paul Von Hindenberg – I think it dates around 1910. Lametta – this is heavy – which I think dates it to early C1900. (later Lametta is quite light). The candle holders – different varieties – I think these date from early C1900 onwards. 2 paper decorations and a brass bell (no hanger) – I think WWI. The Berta Brummer decoration – paper thin – very light metal. I think the bauble with the gun on it is WWI. The large heart – measures 11cm across – same decoration both sides – WWI. 1914 Tree Topper – large – 22cm in length. The plane is 15cm in length – I guess WWII – I think it originally hung from the propeller – I think the wire hanger is an addition. There is a tank – 6.5cm. Hand grenade – I think WWI. There are 4 patriotic baubles – I think these date from WWII. There is a Zeppelin and bottle opener and soldier – I think these date from WWI. I will send other photos if wanted.
