I don’t often list an ornament with pike damage below the cap… Making an exception with this SUPER RARE Antique Lion’s Head known as the large “Roaring Lion” head blown glass German Christmas Ornament Unsilvered… But when held in front of a dark background… Appears very silvery white this is one of the rarest figurals mentioned in the Christmas Research books or on line. I’ve only ever seen one other like it in the past 5 years of researching… (2012) and it had even less silver coverage, but did have more red paint on the mouth. The head measures 2 even… Pike is 3/8 has the early original soft metal German cap Unfortunately this ornament has a chip in the pike at the back. It is not chipped in the front (or sides)… Though due to the transparency does appear to be in front in one of the photos. Since it is such a rare ornament… I’d suggest adding a bit of wax to the back to keep the glass from grabbing or snagging on something and causing further breakage. Rarity, damaged pike and color loss taken into consideration when pricing I have many beautiful items to list…. Please keep checking in my Christmas Store!
